January 2009 News
Did March come in as a lion? Did it go out like a lamb? I can't remember!! Does that sound familiar? This I do know. April has arrived. So have the beautiful spring flowers. They are everywhere. I love Spring. Easter will soon be here for us to enjoy and to rejoice. I have finished my second Chemo treatment; and even though there has been some sick days, some sad days, and some difficult days I am doing quite well (I tell myself this everyday). Continue to pray for me. I do feel your love, your concern, and your prayers. I do plan on having the 2009 BSU Reunion in September in Carbondale." I Remember When" is our theme this year and all activities will be built around remembering or reminiscing about bygone days (activities, games, dress, cars, jewelry, etc. Those on the program will be wearing an old fashion apron (like grandma wore), You do remember that don't you?? I get so excited when I remember the"good old days"-- Where did they go?? We will find them at our 18th Annual BSU Reunion. Plan to be there--I do.
NEWS ITEMS FOR APRIL
- Nomabel O'Neil of Rock Falls died March 2. She was married to Burdell O'Neil in 1946. Many of you will remember these BSU friends.
- Paul Davis, 79, of Alton, passed away Feb. 27. Paul was a good friend, a wonderful pastor and a BSU member. Paul will be missed by his fellow BSU members.
- Many of you knew Fred Winters, pastor of First Baptist Church of Maryville. You heard of his tragic death following a fatal shooting March 8. He was an Illinois Baptist State leader and was praised for his outstanding leadership in the city and state. Our prayers are with the family.
- Juanita and George Kunce have a new email. gjkunce@comcast.net
- News received from Elaine Dixon this week:
We received the following e-mail from Elaine giving an update medical report on Billie Pate. I thought you would like to know this information and remember her as you pray. Cliff
Billie's lung infection (MAC) is active again, but they are allowing her at least a six months extension of her "drug holiday" before she will have to start the heavy doses of anticiotics again. Today they are doing further testing for Mycobacterium Aviam (MAC) to determine if it shows up again, as it did in the material she sent to Jewish Hospital in February. Billie is disappointed, but is determined to do the things important to keeping the disease in check.
The doctor is excellent and gave her additional suggestions for managing the disease. The XRays and Cat Scan show no significant increase in lung deterioration. Lung function and oxygen use are good.
Elaine
- Dale Clemens had eye surgery last week. It was successful. He falls often and needs special care. Remember him in your prayers. We love our Bro. Dale
Well, that is all for now. Enjoy April. It is a very several month for new beginnings. I will continue to inform you of BSU information, if at possible. I had my hair cut today. The picture I sent you by attachment was made a few days go --before hair cut. I love you all
Love to you all
