Dear BSU member of the 40's-50's and 60'sI want to send Christmas Greetings to you!! Christmas is a special time of the year for us, and the New Year offers another year of hope and opportunity.
I became your BSU President 4 years ago when the late Maurice Swinford resigned. I have tried to bring us closer together with use of emails, annual reunions, a new BSU web site and a postal letter twice a year to all BSU members everywhere (over 233 names on mailing list in 23 different states) I have enjoyed the challenge very much!! Our 15Th Annual reunion will be held in Herrin, Illinois at the First Baptist Church on Sept 27-28, 2007.
I have been working on the program for 2007. I have chosen the theme "Harvest Days". I will plan the program around this theme. I am asking all former Chapel Singers to be present and to present a musical concert under the direction of Rayford Raby. He did this for us in 2006 and our BSU friends loved it. I have asked those who sang with us last year to sing with us again this year--many have agreed to do so. I am also asking others of you to join us in 2007. Nearly 40 sang in the concert this past year, the music was great!! It is now on the BSU web Site --- Click Here to Look and Listen...
Our Bsu web site is very active (www.bsu-siu.com) It provides a wealth of information -- a complete listing of 233 names and addresses of BSU members, a monthly newsletter, over 200 pictures taken at our recent reunions, a great number of vintage pictures (don't miss these), names of BSU members who are deceased, maiden names of female students, a listing of 50Th (and above) wedding anniversaries, and more more more!! If you do not have computer seek out one at the library--your church--your friends--your grandchildren for help. You will enjoy the web site. You will be amazed at the stuff I have compiled. I add information and news all the time. DON'T MISS THE BSU WEB SITE.
I plan to use the Chapel Singers again this coming year. The musical concert will be on Friday after the noon meal and will be our inspirational message of the reunion. Happy Holidays to you--May your winter be spent in the warmth of family and friends--may your spring and summer be a happy and healthy time for you---and may we all get together in the fall to discuss BSU days, share memories, renew relationships, and praise the Lord for His goodness to each of us. We may be getting older but we will never cease to praise the Lord for His goodness to each of us for our BSU days. Let's keep these precious memories alive as we share time together in Herrin in September.
You will be delighted with the Reunion speaker I have selected for you. It is still a surprise but I will announce it soon.
