January 2010 News
Christmas 2009 has gone!! "Where did the year go," we ask ourselves. The answer is hard to find. We just know what once was- is no more. We see and feel time passing us by so quickly in our adult lives. Yes, 2010 is now here and we must acknowledge it as reality. An old hymn says, "Only one life twill soon be passed only what is done for Christ will last" This is so true for all of us. I want to encourage you to continue to visit the BSU web site. I will keep it up to date (with your help, of course) I try to make it is as easy as possible for you. On several occasions I have a "click here" for you. That means you can go directly to the web site. Try it next time you see that little "click". You will be see as easy it is to view the web site www.bsu-siu.com. I will not be planning the 2010 BSU Reunion this year. Ginger Wells, our new President, will be doing it for us. I am sure those plans will soon be available. Watch for her plans. You need to continue to send me news about our BSU members. I am interested in new addresses, new email addresses, phone numbers, illnesses, death, etc. I will keep you informed by email as well as by web site. Ginger can keep you entertained with her plans, etc.

JANUARY NEWS ITEMS

  1. I received many beautiful Christmas Cards from you all. I read and reread them!! You are all so very nice to me. Thank you so very much. I send few Christmas cards these days. However, I do enjoy getting them. So, again let me say thank you one and all!!
  2. I have chosen AT&T U- erse. I had it installed in mid December. Gee, I have so much stuff to sort out. I now have 200 channels (most of which I have not seen). It is harder and harder to find my good old John Wayne movies. My web site is supposed to be faster now. Well it might be -- I probably won't know the difference. Now, I can record four channels at one time and play them back whenever I want. And, I can enjoy blazing fast internet up to 28 Mbps Well, we will see. They sure made it sound good. It is called "bundling". I remember during our BSU days that word "bundle" meant something else. What was it?? I have forgotten!!!
  3. A NOTE FROM DON BOYD: Louise agreed for me to let you know she is very seriously ill. She would appreciate the prayers of our people. She is in the final stages of congestive heart failure. Her last echo gram showed her heart's ejection factor is 10 which means her heart is having a very difficult task pumping out the blood. The task will soon be impossible. I have almost quit praying for healing, but I pray that her passing will be as painless as possible. We know where she is going, and there is no pain there, but it will surely be lonely around here! Don Boyd (written several weeks ago)
  4. A new email address for Sharon (Handling) Reynolds. She is married to Rev. Calvin Reynolds. They live in Rock Falls IL. The email address is trailertracks@gmail.com She writes "Thanks for the web site. I had more fun browsing! I was from White Hall - but later taught in the Alton area - Roxana. I was in BSU 1956-60. SHARON
  5. We all miss Dale Clemens. Ada Ann continues to live alone in their home here in Collinsville. She may require more help in the future. We will wait and see.
  6. Bill Berry is still in Rehab. Bessie is not well either. They need our prayers. I hear about them from Charlotte McKnight. They live in Flora, Il. Their address (email too) is on web site under Directory -- latest information 12-29-09. (Bill Berry is still in Flora Rehab and Care Center.) "There is no way she could take care of him at home at the present time..."
  7. I posted a picture of Dale Clemens and me on our Dec. news letter. It was late getting posted so you may not have seen it. Go to Dec. news letter 2009 and scroll down to the bottom of the page to see picture. It was also on my memorial letter I wrote for Dale. (It may be under News Archive now--look for it there or click above!!)
  8. Stan & Betty Nicol Our new address is: 9745 Cherryleaf Court, Indianapolis, IN 46268-3923
  9. Winter address for Ken and Betty Hall: 3165 E. University Dr., 830 Mesa, AZ 85213. Ken ordered a copy of the DVD of the 2009 BSU reunion. Want one?? Just let me know. It cost only $10.00 You will enjoy!! I laughed until I -------cried!!!
  10. Change of address for Mariana Trovillon. It is Marianna and Herman Thompson 1115 Harbers Lane Apt 126, Metamora Il. 61548, Ph. # 309-367-9667, Email address is urbanapatgmail.com
  11. I need an address for Tom and Ester Eggley. Can you help me?
  12. A Message from Mary Ruth Whitman: "Hi Helen, Johnnie has pneumonia and was very sick for the first two days in the hospital but he is on the mend now. We are hoping he will be home for Christmas." (John is home now and doing better.)
Well, that is it for the new Year. I pray God's blessing on each of you. May you enjoy life to its fullest. I plan to. You are a blessing to me. I sent a picture of myself taken last Christmas. I hope it comes through for you.
