Dear BSU Friends,

June is just around the corner in Collinsville, Il. The May flowers I promised you did not arrive. The warm weather didn't arrive either. And, April showers were with us most of the month of May. June promises to be better. The key words for May were rain, rain, and more rain. It was cold, cold, cold. NOW, June is near--you are a dear--and Helen is here working for you. I am busy, busy, busy with BSU Reunion plans. I will share some of the plans in my news items. I know you are interested in hearing about our BSU friends.

1. Joyce Knight Showers lost a sister a few weeks ago. She lived in Marion. She was a member of the First Baptist Church. We were saddened over the news
2. Walter (Jeff) and Bessie Mae Davis have been in N.C. Jeff lost his sister May 6th. They returned May 14th. They also have a new email address. It is bmdwrd@netscape.com
3. I received a note from Linda Auxier writing about her Dad, Everett Lemay. "I was browsing the website and thought I would send a note about Dad. He had a heart attack last Wed and they did a heart cath the next day. They are going to try and change some medication for him. Just remember them in your prayers."
4. A note from Joyce Purdue concerning Bill's health, "Bill has just returned from a hospital stay. He has severe breathing problems and congestive heart failure. Right now he is doing some better. We are so fortunate -- Please remember us in your prayers."
5. Bill and Joyce Purdue will celebrate their 67th wedding anniversary in August. And, Ivan and Mildred Christoff will celebrate a 65th wedding anniversary in Dec.. These two couples are among are oldest BSU members.We are proud of these "old" BSU friends
6. Robert and Suzi Stuckey celebrated a 50th wedding anniversary. Pictures of all three couples are on the web site. Check out Golden Wedding Anniversaries.(click)
7. Dorothy (Kunath) Geriche will celebrate her 90th birthday this month. Frank writes, "Dorothy has forgotten many of the names of her BSU friends--however she has never forgotten you". A celebration is planned for Dorothy. She was born June 4,1918. Dorothy attended SIU in 1939-40
8. Dale Clemens had a good report from a recent heart test. He has been busy filling in for our pastor. Continue to pray for him and Ada Ann
9. Another vintage picture will soon be on the web site.It is a picture of Dr. and Mrs. Johnson and his "Preacher boys and their mates.". It was probably taken in the late 40's and early 50's.A few names include E. Standefer- Cliff Burchyett, C. Watkins, P. Dann, J. Upchurch, G.Wells and several others.. Watch for it!!

11. Motel Reservation Reminder. (Letter sent earlier) To those of you who are planning on coming to the BSU reunion on Thursday night Sept. 25 and need a motel reservation. I have reserved 13 rooms for you. I checked several of the motels in Collinsville. I decided on Days Inn (former Ramada Limited). I will let you make your own reservation. I do know that the Cardinals will be in town that weekend. Motels rooms in Collinsville fill up quickly when the Cardinals are home. . Now I was able to get us an AARP discount as well as a tax free rate. (Tax rate in Collinsville is 13%). The total price will be $49.40. (regular rate would have been ($ 67.67) This is a wonderful rate. Now, these will be on first come first served bases. You can cancel your reservation within 24 hours. I made it possible for you to check in at 12:30 pm (usually 3 pm). Now I can reserve more rooms if needed. I suggest you call Tues--Wed--Thurs.or Sat and ask for Pam Henrion. She was the person I talked with about the reservations. They are listed in my name or BSU Reunion.That phone number is 618-345-2000---- address 12 Commerce Dr. Collinsville Il. If you need phone number for other motels let me know.
12. I have a new car (2008 Fit Honda) It is as cute as a button. Two ladies at the church said to me,"that car looks just like you". Well, what more can I say?? (See picture below and see what you think)
13. See you at the 16th Annual Reunion Sept 25-26 at the Meadow Heights Baptist in Collinsville Il. The Chapel Singers will be with us again this year. I have ask Nate Adams to be our guest speaker, and nearly 100 BSU members will meet to have a wonderful time. Don't YOU miss it.
