June Greetings to each of you. When I turned the calender to June 2011-- I noticed the following things. June is a rather short
month. There are only 4 Sundays compared to May and July which both have 5.
On June1 the Sun rises at 5:38 am--the sun sets at 7:19 pm. June 1 is the 152 day of the year. So we are starting another
interesting month. Some of you were born in June. That makes it even more interesting. So, happy June "is busting out all over"
month to all of you. June in our church will be a busy one. We will be planning for Vacation Bible School in a big way. It is a week
of challenge for our children, for our workers, and for our parents. Our theme for this year New York--New York. Yes, we celebrate
VBS in big, big way. We also celebrate Father's Day on June 19th and we usher in Summer on June 21. Many of you have heard
that our own Jim Robinson suffered a TIA on May 8th while at church on that Sunday morning. Jim has been serving our church as
Music Director for several years now. He is loved by us all. Jim serves, too, as a member of our State BSU planning committee.
He and Rosie play an important role in all of State BSU work. He is doing better. Remember them in your daily devotions.
NOW MY JUNE NEWS ITEMS
- During the month of May, I received a collection of inspirational writings--"All About Him" in booklet form -- by Robt Mann.
Some of you will remember Bob and Roselea. They were BSU students in the 40's. Roselea is a sister of Dr. Noel Taylor. The
writings were written by Bob over a period of time. I enjoyed reading them so very much. I wish you too had received a copy. I
have been trying to think of a way to share them with you. If you think you might like a copy let me know --I will do something!!!

Helen - Thank you for the email address for Bill Jenkins. I have been retired for 12 years, after serving FBC Lake St. Louis for
10 years. We continue to live here. Upon retiring I had 11 interims, 7 of which were in Illinois, all in Madison or Metro-East Assns.
I am Pastor-Emeritus at FBC Lake St. Louis. I recently served as chairman of 2 committees, relating to a revised site-plan for 2
additional buildings. The second committee was to acknowledge the church's 25th Anniversary Year -- which ends this Sunday,
May 1. Nelda and I are doing fine at the moment. We enjoy reading the newsletter as it reminds us of great times in Christian
service. God bless, Bob Thompson

- A note from old friend Jim Cox (Lives in St Louis) A Face book statement.
Hi Helen, "P.S. Carla and I celebrated 25 years last December. That's us in my profile pic. I just recently added the fact that I'm married to let all the single women who were hitting on me to back off! But I still love you!"
- Helen , Cliff is not making much progress. His condition is fairly stable in a nursing facility. He cannot get out of bed without help. He spends a lot of time in a wheelchair. He has to intake food carefully and has limited ability to talk -- mostly words not sentences. He seems fairly relaxed and appreciates the people around him. He loves to watch Cardinal games!!! Erline lives in an assisted living apartment on the same campus and spends a lot of time with him while getting her own needs met. They are selling their condo and settling into the care facility for the future. Their children are very involved and work with Erline on decision-making. Erline is happy with her living arrangement and glad to be near Cliff. They are making the best of a difficult situation with the help of God, family and friends. Their address is 145 Forest Point Lane, Avon, IN 46123. Erline's phone number is 317-718-2673. Thanks for asking about them and for sharing this information with their friends as you have opportunity.
I continue to be grateful for your long, productive and caring life. Love to you, Elaine Dickson
- Just for the fun of it I checked my inbox for the month of May to see how many BSU friends I had heard from during the month. I counted 18 who had sent me "something " during the month. I love hearing from you so "keep those cards and letters coming."
- Myron Dillow Helen: Glad to know you are Up and About. Keep on keeping on. Marjorie had to have a crainomoty in March to remove a sub-dural hemotoma. She is home now and slowly gaining strength. M & M
- Remember to keep Jim and Rosie in your prayers.
- The BSU reunion is getting closer every month. I do hope you can attend--Theme is "Nifty Fifties." That should be fun time.--Sept. 29-30 in Carbondale.
- Now, you have read my 12. commandments----And, I thank you
Well, this is my news for the month of May. I continue to stay busy doing a lot of little things. My health remains good and I am grateful for that. I have lots of friends and family who do many things for me.They seems to like doing it and so I just let them. I still teach my SS class, help with Meals on Wheels, do 5 Bulletin Boards monthly, and try to attend Church as often as possible. Oh yes, I serve as President Emeritus for the BSU group. This I love most!! Take good care of yourself and send me any news you might hear. I always have my ears on for news .
Love to you all,
Your BSU President, Emeritus

Observations on Growing Older
~Your kids are becoming you...and you don't like them...but your grandchildren are perfect!
~Going out is good.. Coming home is better!
~When people say you look "Great"..they add "for your age!"
~You forget names.... but it's OK because other people forgot they even knew you!!!
~The 5 pounds you wanted to lose is now 15 and you have a better chance of losing your keys than the 15 pounds.
~Your spouse is counting on you to remember things you don't remember.
~The things you used to care to do, you no longer care to do, but you really do care that you don't care to do them anymore.
~You used to say, "I hope my kids GET married...
Now, "I hope they STAY married!"
~You miss the days when everything worked with just an "ON" and "OFF" switch..
~When GOOGLE, ipod, email, modem....
were unheard of, and a mouse was something that made you climb on a table
~You tend to use more 4 letter words ...
"what?"..."when?"... ???
~Your husband/wife has a night out with the guys or gals but is home by 9:00 P.M. Next week it will be 8:30 P.M.
~You read 100 pages into a book before you realize you've read it.
~Notice everything they sell in stores is "sleeveless"?!!!
~What used to be freckles are now liver spots.
~Everybody whispers.
~Now that your spouse has retired ...
you'd give anything if he/she would find a job!
~~~~But old is good in some things:
old songs,
old movies,
And best of all, OLD FRIENDS!! (Copied)
