May 2011
April has come and gone. May has arrived just on time. April was an exciting month. One that I will long remember. We had warm days and cold days. April had a hard time making up "her" mind. She seemed to say,"What shall I do next." It was cold --then hot-- rain and then windy and dry. Even I was confused at times. I did get to go to a Cardinal Baseball game during the month. We won too. Maybe we were to celebrate April Fools Day all month. Easter was the highlight of the month. We all enjoyed the day and the season and the reason. Well, anyway. May is here!!!! Let's plan to enjoy it. During the month we will pause to honor our Mothers. It is called Mother's day. Oh,how I loved my mother--she was so special to me. The month of May honors Armed Forces Day as well as Memorial Day.These days are so important to our nation. We never get tired of singing, "God Bless America." It is truly the land that we love. May flowers are here for us to enjoy. May Day parades will be held in many cities. It is a time to celebrate. You are all so loved by me- -your President Emeritus.
NEW NEWS ITEMS
- Helen, I enjoyed your letter about so many people. Some I knew and some I didn't. I wanted to go to the BSU reunion last year, but Don and Helen Ruth were not going, so I stayed home too. Driving to Illinois from Texas when you are 83 is not such a wise venture. It would have been great to be there, but my sons aren't too anxious for me to take off alone on such a long trip. If St. Louis would move, I could make it through all the smaller cities. I just don't anticipate a trip circling St. Louis. I would have loved to see George and Jerry Casey. I also read about some others that I know that were there. I try to keep in touch with Stan Nicol, Ruth Crockett, and George Casey, but I don't have many other e-mail addresses. I would have loved to see Leona Davis. I hope they still remember me. I'm sorry I missed Dale Clemons, but he is in a much better place. Don and Helen Ruth are related to Ann Dillow Clemons, so they told me about his death.
Thanks for all you are still doing for all of us. I don't know Ginger, but I'm anxious to meet her.
I may know her and just cannot place her right now. I often keep international students in my home so if I have one whose driving
I can trust, I may corner one of them to take me this coming September. I think they would like the experience of seeing Illinois too.
Some of them try to travel to other states when they have spring break or a couple of weeks during the summer between terms.

- Just in case you missed this prayer by Billy Graham
Billy Graham's Prayer For Our Nation
THIS MAN SURE HAS A GOOD VIEW OF WHAT'S HAPPENING TO OUR COUNTRY!
'Heavenly Father, we come before you today to ask your forgiveness and to seek your direction and guidance. We know Your Word says, 'Woe to those who call evil good,' but that is exactly what we have done. We have lost our spiritual equilibrium and reversed our values.. We have exploited the poor and called it the lottery. We have rewarded laziness and called it welfare. We have killed our unborn and called it choice. We have shot abortionists and called it justifiable. We have neglected to discipline our children and called it building self esteem. We have abused power and called it politics. We have coveted our neighbor's possessions and called it ambition. We have polluted the air with profanity and pornography and called it freedom of expression. We have ridiculed the time-honored values of our forefathers and called it enlightenment. Search us, Oh God, and know our hearts today; cleanse us from every sin and Set us free. Amen!'
With the Lord's help, may this prayer sweep over our nation and wholeheartedly become our desire so that we again can be called 'One nation under God!'
Well, this is my news for the month of May. I continue to stay busy doing a lot of little things. My health remains good and I am grateful for that. I have lots of friends and family who do many things for me.They seems to like doing it and so I just let them. I still teach my SS class, help with Meals on Wheels, do 5 Bulletin Boards monthly, and try to attend Church as often as possible. Oh yes, I serve as President Emeritus for the BSU group. This I love most!! Take good care of yourself and send me any news you might hear. I always have my ears on for news .
Love to you all,
Your BSU President, Emeritus

A little silver-haired lady calls her neighbor and says, "Please come over here and help me. I have a killer jigsaw puzzle, and I can't figure out how to get started."
Her neighbor asks, "What is it supposed to be when it's finished?"
The little silver headed lady says, "According to the picture on the box, it's a rooster."
Her neighbor decides to go over and help with the puzzle.
She lets him in and shows him where she has the puzzle spread all over the table.
He studies the pieces for a moment, then looks at the box, then turns to her and says,
"First of all, no matter what we do, we're not going to be able to assemble these pieces into anything resembling a rooster."
He takes her hand and says, "Secondly, I want you to relax. Let's have a nice cup of tea, and then," he said with a deep sigh .............

"Let's put all the Corn Flakes back in the box."
