November 2007 News

Dear BSU Friends,

October was a busy month for me. I was busy putting BSU Reunion materials away--- checking with Geo Casey to make sure you all received your individual pictures. It seems that you did. The U.S. post office did "tear up" three of the pictures but I think Geo. finally found you all. Let me know if you did not get your picture (that was taken) at the reunion. I have been working with our web site www.bsu-siu.com getting the pictures on the web--so everybody can see YOU. The pictures are on the web site now (click). I am hoping to have the Chapel Singers DVD on the web site soon too. It is so good. Those of you who sang in it received your copy from Rayford Raby. And, I am planning to use the "New Chapel Singers" again next year. Our Reunion will be in the Meadow Heights Baptist Church, Collinsville Sept 25-26 2008. The First Baptist Church in Marion has asked for the 2009 reunion. I hope I am still around to plan it too. I don't dare add those years up!!

Please check the web site often. It is for you.!!! There is so much there. I correct and update it every month. Go ahead check me out!! I plan to add a few more vintage pictures to the web site soon (They are so funny) Phil Parks sends me so many "good" ones. I gave away many at the reunion. Wasn't that fun? I will have more at the 2008 reunion. You can bet on it!

I will attempt to keep you informed about our BSU friends. However, I must depend on you for information. Our prayer chain is very active. It is so helpful and so needed. BSU friends know the power of prayer. We use it too!! Send me your prayer request. On that list just now is Micki Nicol, Cliff Burchyette, Mrs. Myron Dillow, LaRue Blackwell. We were saddened over the death of Bill Dabney -- Marilyn died a few years ago. The Dabney's lived in Stockton Calif. Bill was in school during the 50's (See Reunion 2004 (click) on web site for last picture I have.) Wayne Clapp passed away in Sept. Lela Mae was at the recent reunion. We are so saddened by her loss. Loretta KIng passed away in August. Many will remember Loretta and Wayne King--they were active BSU members in the early 50's. The loss of George Davis saddened us all.

During the year we lost 8 of our BSU members (That I know about) Check web site for names of those deceased during the year. Look under Memories on the home page (Click)

I had a few survey booklets left over. I sent Elizabeth Johnson a copy. She was overwhelmed. Many of you mentioned Dr. Johnson as your favorite teacher. I thought Elizabeth should read that!! If you would like to have a booklet I think I have 3 more--First come-- First served. Let me know. I also sent Phronsie Quinn a copy.
