What a wonderful spirit engulfed us during our time together. We really did "get our kicks on Route 66". What a wonderful fun theme. The church was decorated throughout the building with Route 66 signs, Burma shave signs, a clothes line full of Chenille bed spreads and robes (all prices and described appreciably), old cars, maps, Betty Boop displays, Smokey The Bear, beautiful bulletin boards depicting Route 66, and more more, more!! It was Great!! The individual pictures (click) are now on the Web site. There are also many pictures showing off the decorations and more are coming. The group picture will be posted very soon. A statistical report can be found under the 2005 reunion page(click). The report will give you a wealth of information. Our attendance was down but the spirit was outstanding. Many said it was our best Reunion yet. We plan to go to Walnut Street Baptist Church next year. (Lake Sallteeska was not available.) The date is always the last Thursday and Friday in Sept. That falls on Sept 28-29 in 2006. Walnut Street should bring back a lot of memories for many of us. So put the date on your calendar for the 14th annual reunion in 2006. During the program we took care of several business items. Harold Spencer resigned as Secretary and Treasurer. Harold held this position from the beginning of the BSU Reunions. We have had 13 now. Harold has done a wonderful job as our S & T. Thank you so much Harold!! However poor health and the loss of his eye sight has forced him to retire from this position. Gerald Glasco from Marion has agreed to take the job. Thank you Harold and thank you Gerald (You will remember that Harold had a brother named Gerald.) I look forward to working with Gerry Glasco. His wife Sue is a dear friend of mine. (Don't hold it against her though). Individual pictures were taken Friday morning. Each family has been sent a copy of their picture. Later, a large group picture was taken in the church auditorium. Each family present will receive a copy of the group picture too. These pictures will be on the web site in the very near future for all to see. I will inform you of that. Well I think that should do it for this month. I plan to take a well deserved vacation from BSU "stuff". Maybe a day or two at least!! Your BSU President Helen Green Galloway To read the news archives, click here. |
