October 2008 News

The 2008 BSU Reunion is history. All went well. The attendance was not as huge as last year but the interest and the enthusiasm was great. Several were there for the first time. They were amazed that so much information about the 40's- 50's and 60's BSU'ers was available.They could hardly believe that we were still so active in church related activities and that we are planning for our 17th Annual BSU Reunion. Yes, it is true friendships made during our BSU days are still meaningful to each of us after these some 50 years. We are well and still going strong. We had a wonderful time at our reunion. Plan to attend next year. We thank the Lord for His love and His goodness to us. Our reunion next year will be in Carbondale -- the University Baptist Church has invited us. The Reunion date is always the last Thursday and Friday in September (Sept.24, 25, 2009). Mildred Odle will be our contact person. I plan to have our Thursday night service at the Student Ministries Bldg. on Oakland Ave. The date has been cleared through Chase Abner, the Student Ministries Director. We thank the Lord for His love and goodness to each of us. Yes, our 16th Annual Reunion has come and gone. We were all blessed. Highlights of the Reunion:

  • Renewing old friendships
  • Catsup Bottle Presentation was very interesting
  • Messengers were so very good (MHBC men's group) (Surprise from Elvis)
  • Jim Cox (soloist) was well received (old friend)
  • New Chapel singers were outstanding again this year (Thanks RR)
  • Nate Adams a real treat (yes, he will be invited back)
  • Gerald Glasco,our Treasure and Geo. Casey, our photographer were so very helpful
  • Helen Ruth Dillow is the best pianist I know
  • Helpful Handouts were available
  • BSU Reunion will be held in Carbondale in 2009
  • AND. Helen, our President, survived another reunion.

What a wonderful two days!!! I just couldn't help but but think... Heaven....This is a little bit of heaven. We were so happy to see so many old friends. Thank you Helen for making it all possible. We are already looking forward to next year! (A note from Ginger Wells)
