Dear BSU Members and Friends,The 14th Annual Reunion Month is here. Are you excited?? The reunion will be held September 28-29, 2006 in Carbondale, Illinois. We will be meeting at the Walnut Street Baptist Church. Many of you were members of this church during your college days at SIU. You do remember, don’t you?? You should have heard from Gerald Glasco (our new treasurer) by now. Over 230 letters went out to BSU Members in 23 states August 10th. If you did not hear from us let us know. A letter was sent to every BSU member on our mailing list. If you did not hear from Gerald you are not on our mailing list. I want you to be!! So, let me hear from you. It isn't too late to register. You still have time!!
I hope you are excited. I am! I think you will enjoy this Reunion very much. I now have over 50 who want to join our “New Chapel Singers” group. I can hardly wait to hear them sing. Rayford Raby will be our director and Helen Ruth Dillow will be our pianist. I have several special musical numbers lined up, too. We will begin Thursday night with a “supper” meeting at the church. It is free. I am planning on you to be there. A choir practice will be held earlier in the afternoon. I will write those "New Chapel Singers" about this.
Several have asked about Jean Davis (Mrs Russsell Davis). Jean plans to continue to live in Dix, Il. That address is in the Directory (click). Drop Jean a card occasionally and let her know that you are thinking about her. We will all miss Russell. I had a note from Irma Swope in mid August . Here is what she had to say about her health. Irma had another stint put in August 4th. She has been home for several weeks now. Irma lives in Paris Il. Her daughter, Diana, is near by to watch after her mother. Irma would appreciate an email.
I have prepared several interesting statistics for you. I will share them at the reunion. I have prepared a history of our BSU Reunions. --Starting with 1992and bringing you up to 2006. This is our 14th annual reunion. This is a very interesting piece of information. We have the Spencers (Both Gerald & Rinnie and Harold and Evelyn) as well as the Swinfords to thank for our current BSU Reunions. You will enjoy this bit of information. I have also prepared a Statistical report of our BSU membership by states. We have 23 states represented with a total of 233 addresses listed on our BSU web site directory. This will surprise you. What state (not counting Illinois) has the largest number of former BSU members? I will tell you at the Reunion. I have also prepared for your information a list of BSU Directors who have served at SIU. I went back as far as 1939. How many have we had?? You will find out at the reunion. I will also place all of this information on the web site following the reunion.

I will sadly miss my good BSU friend Wilma Chambers Tefft.. She passed away August 27. She was a good and faithful friend. We had so many happy hours together.
