15th Annual BSU Reunion Month
Dear BSU Friends,
Dear BSU Members, This is our month. We will meet September 27-28 to celebrate our 15th Annual BSU reunion. This year we will be meeting at the First Baptist Church in Herrin, IL. You received a registration letter from Gerald Glasco in early August. At the time I wrote this letter for the website we had received 52 registration forms and 37 survey sheets. The dead line for the survey sheets was Sept.1. ( I need those 26 days to get booklets made---if I am lucky.) We have 35 registered to sing with chapel singers. This will remain open until Reunion time. I have a lot of good things planned for you this year. Those on the program include: The McClerrens, Rayford Raby at the key board, A male quartet, a special guest, Billie Pate, special music, Jerry Casey, the new Chapel Singers with Rayford Raby, and our own State Executive Director and inspirational speaker Nate Adams (guess who will introduce him to you--a surprise) See, I told you we had a good program planned. Now in addition to our special program we have other things planned for you. George Casey will be taking individual pictures--also a large group picture- There will be free handouts--Book signing table-- plenty of good food-- hot cider--wonderful fellowship--"Harvest Days" decorations (even a gift for each of you) Yes, our theme is Harvest Days. You will recognize this theme in many places. Juanita Kunce is the chairman of the committee for the First Baptist Church of Herrin. She is top-notch. I said so!! Now I had reserved 20 rooms at the Econo-Lodge in Marion. Those rooms might be taken, but call 618-993-1644 and ask for rooms reserved by Helen Galloway for BSU reunion. There are many motels in Marion--none in Herrin though. (Juanita said she wouldn't let her dog stay in that Motel in Herrin). Of course, she doesn't have a dog, but that is what she said. Now, one last thought. If you failed to make a reservation but later changed your mind-- come on to the reunion any way. I will share my plate. There is always lots of food. We want you there. If you want to sing with the Chapel Singer but can not eat with us-- that is ok too. You do whatever makes you happy. I plan to!! Now I have few news items: Check directory (click) for mailing address and email addresses if available. I have enrolled these new BSU Members: Gene and Ginger (Augenstein) Wells Donna (Finn) Barnfield Ed and Donna Hankins Lucien Bozart Bob and Shirley (Harvengt) Cullum I changed the mailing addresses in the directory for: Bob Ross Margie Shelton Owen Davis I dropped the names of Kay Blessing, Mary Tuffey, and Byrl Sims (no address) William Brown wrote about the death of Jim Lipe: He died Jan.12, 2007. Jim lived in Duquoin. Verona Highsmith requested prayer for Shirley Harvengt. She is battling cancer and chemo treatments. I have posted a 55th Wedding Anniversary picture of Cliff and Erline Burchyett. See Current Photos (click) Well, I must close for now. There is so much going on that I hardly know when to stop. I do hope to see you later this month. However, if you can not attend be sure and check October news. I will be sharing everything with you by way of reports, pictures, testimonies, etc. Your BSU President Helen Green Galloway helengalloway@sbcglobal.net www.bsu-siu.com These quotes were sent to me by one of our fellow BSU members---CB The irony of life is that, by the time you're old enough to know your way around, you're not going anywhere. God made man before woman so as to give Him time to think of an answer to her first question. ~~~~~ I was always taught to respect my elders, but it gets harder to find one.
