Use the buttons below to stop, pause, or replay the music. Note: The song will play best with a faster Internet connection such as DSL. If you use a dial-up connection, the song may be broken up. I am working to fix this so it will play nicely for all! --Kim (Helen's Niece and site programmer)

Chapel Singers Tour Book Back
On tour in the northern Illinois area, this group sang on the nationally broadcast (radio) "Don McNeil Breakfast Club." We sang the popular arrangement of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic." After the show, walking along State Street, we saw a group of people walking towards us. In the middle of the group, getting all of the attention, was Heavy Weight Boxing Champion, Casius Clay....later to become Muhammed Ali. Of course, we met him, shook hands....as I recall, my comment was "Hello, Champ." ("Never-at-a-loss-for-the-right-words" Gray, they call me). On the same tour, we also sang with the Billy Graham Crusade Choir. What a trip. During the summer prior to coming to Illinois, I directed the Baylor Religious Hour Choir (Baylor University, of course). That choir tour passed through Illinois. We sang the same song in Springfield at the crypt in the Lincoln Monument...surrounded with marble, underfoot, overhead and all around, you can imagine the huge, reverberating sound that made. Serveral tourist were in there....a few tears flowed. That was another exciting experience.
